PSI TECHNICS :: OCTOBER 2018
A camera-based conveyor monitoring solution ensures condition-based maintenance at a Japanese automobile manufacturing plant

PSI Technics' Inline Control System will soon be used at a Japanese automobile manufacturing plant.

A Japanese automobile manufacturer commissioned PSI Technics with supplying industrial image processing solution for a circular Power & Free drag conveyor at their US production site. The solution has a unique feature: It is portable. Thanks to a specially constructed case, the unit can be mounted at various locations throughout the assembly line. The client even considers using the solution in different manufacturing plants.

PSI Technics' Inline Control System monitors the wheels of chain-driven Power & Free conveyors that are part of the assembly line. The integrated cameras transmit a signal if excessive wear or abrasion is detected to enable a timely and condition-based trolley maintenance. The system indicates wheel wear at an early stage, so that wheels can replaced before problems happen or lead to conveyor downtime, thus preventing costly production outages.

DA-MI-KA – Camera-based Train Roof Inspection
See how it works in our latest video

DA-MI-KA optimizes the maintenance workflow. Train roof inspections can be carried out on a regular basis and in significantly less time. DB Fernverkehr AG based in Munich, Germany, is a customer that relies on PSI Technics automated inspection system for its fleet of ICE high-speed long-distance trains.

During the planning stage, the feasibility of the roof-inspection project was assessed on-site. Specific test components were selected and appropriate diagnostic methods for the components were determined. Processes, workflows and requirements were then identified before the system was installed and commissioned. At DB Fernverkehr AG DA-MI-KA now simplifies maintenance activities to provide maximum value.
